Summer: Chocolate! Because it taste great and every bite is like a little escape to a heavenly place!
CS: What's your favourite vacation spot? Why?
S: Sanibel Island, Florida. Beautiful beaches, sunshine, and solitude... what more could a mother of two ask for?!
CS: Tell us a bit about yourself and your family
S: I am a single mother of two beautiful girls. My oldest is a green eyed, blonde haired 5 year old with an endless supply of energy. My youngest is a brown eyed, 7 month old brunette with an appetite that rivals that of my teenage brother.
CS: Describe your creative style
S: I would have to say a balance of classy and whimsical. Sometimes a little more or less of each depending on the particular project I'm working on.
CS: How did you get into crafting?
S: I've always enjoyed arts and crafts, but my inspiration as an adult comes from my two baby girls.
CS: What was the first thing you ever made?
S: My first creation was a pacifier clip for one of my daughters.
CS: What project/product are you most proud of?
S: To be honest, I'm equally proud of every piece I create. But my customers seem to be drawn mostly to my teething rings adorned with any type of cute animal.
CS: What does your current work space look like?
S: Kind of a funny question. My current work space fits into a portable organizer so that it can travel with me wherever I may go. Although, most of my work is done in a quiet and peaceful bedroom in my home.
CS: What does your dream work space look like?
S: I would love to have a dedicated work space located in a warm, rustic log cabin overlooking a flowing river.
CS: How do you balance work and home life?
S: Well, I'm a stay at home mom, so my work and home life feel like they're one in the same. As for balance, I tend to do most of my craft work in the evenings after my girls have been put to sleep. During the day, I handle marketing and the packaging & shipments of my orders whenever time allows.
CS: Where do you see your business going in the next five years?
S: I envision my product line expanding well beyond hand crafted pacifier clips and teething rings to include items such as all natural, beaded teething necklaces and bracelets, as well as sensory toys for special needs babies. Of course, I would love to employ at least two additional mothers or fathers that share in my overall vision.
CS: What advice would you give to someone looking to start their own small business?
S: Swallow your pride and accept help and advice from your loved ones. But, most important, follow your heart and chase your dreams and don't let anyone pull you down.
CS: What do you love most about Chomp?
S: In short, I love the quality of the items I receive from Chomp. It is very important to me that each of my creations not only look good but are constructed of individual pieces I can trust.
CS: What would you like to see Chomp carry in the future?
S: All natural chew beads.
